When Q first burst on the public consciousness, I felt it was legit due to some of their statements checking out, but when the drops switched over to 8chan, I became suspicious that the original Q had been co-opted for a counter psychological op. Like someone else commented here, in this scenario, "Trust the Plan" was a perfect counter-insurgency misinformation play; i.e. "Sit down and shut up".
Now that Q has returned, and Trump has started using the WWG1WGA theme music at rallies (which I find kind of cult-y and unnecessary; Trump doesn't need augmentation, IMHO), it seems more likely your take on Q is more accurate. We shall see.
